In a democracy, the citizens make the Government and hold it accountable. Police is a part of the Government machinery for which the Rules and Regulations are more important and have to work in the interest of Public. Citizens register many complaints against the Government Machinery. The grievances of citizens against Government Machinery need to be heard and redressed. Otherwise, citizens will trained to withdraw their loyalty towards it. Hence, democracy sets up appropriate machinery for the redressal of citizen’s grievances.
In this context a Special Cell namely the Public Complaints & Grievance Cell has been set up under Birbhum District Police to deal with the redressal of the grievances of the citizens of the Birbhum District.
